Setting up your locations

Every location, its code, time zone and units — and why locations come before menus.

Who can do thisBrand admin

Locations come first. Menus and recipe viewers are both assigned per location, so nothing can reach a kitchen until the kitchen exists in Tavorly.

Stores & devices lists every location with, at a glance, its region, status, how many recipe viewers are enrolled and how many are connected, how many manager PINs it holds, and which menus its viewers can open.

Adding a location

New store creates one. A location needs a name; everything else can follow.

The code is your own short identifier — RV01, UPTOWN, whatever your team already says out loud. It shows above the location’s name and in the list, so pick what your managers will recognise.

Location settings

Open a location and scroll to Settings:

  • Store name and code — both editable at any time. Neither is an identifier Tavorly depends on, so renaming is safe.
  • Time zone — chosen from a list of US zones. It drives when a scheduled menu version actually flips over for this location.
  • UnitsInherit brand default, Imperial, or Metric. Inherit is the right answer unless one location genuinely differs; set the brand default once instead of setting every store.
  • Region — optional grouping, for brands large enough to roll changes out by area.

A new location’s time zone defaults to America/Los_Angeles, and it does so quietly. If your locations are not on the west coast, set this when you create each one — a wrong time zone does nothing visible until a scheduled menu version activates several hours early or late.

Save commits the settings block. Menu access above it is different: it saves as you toggle.

Closing a location

Close store takes a location off the active list and keeps all of its data. Use it when a site shuts or is handed over — you do not lose its history, and its past sign-offs stay in your records.

Closing changes what your dashboard measures. Coverage is calculated across active locations, so closing one removes it from the denominator.

What comes next

Once a location exists, three things attach to it, each on the location’s own page:
